Events Coordinator
Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
Working as an Events Coordinator at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has taught me several skills applicable to many departments within the sports industry. Each and every day looks different. One day could be an event day where I’m running around the Coliseum managing several tasks at once, or it could be a day in the office where I have a couple of event or sales meetings and then I’ll have some settlements to complete from previous events.
My biggest takeaway is simply being open-minded because the little things matter. The small details that go into the planning of every event are so important.
Remaining detail-oriented is key.
I created software where I can embed an “Event Manager Checklist”. It was created to make my boss's life a little bit easier. This checklist has every small detail, in order, that needs to be addressed in order to follow proper protocol and have a successful event. The software will allow her to use the checklist as a template for every event and physically check off which tasks have been completed, and she will also be able to virtually assign other tasks on the checklist to her team. The goal was to organize the planning process and ensure that all team members are informed.
